Young Son • Battery Technician
With a career spanning from high school drumline to international drum corps, Young Son is a seasoned percussionist with over 30 years of experience in both performance and instruction. He began his journey at Millikan High School (1992–1993) and later went on to make a significant impact in the world of competitive drumlines, performing with top-tier organizations like the Westshoremen, Empire Statesmen, and SoCal Dream. His time in the U.S. Army (1993–2018) further shaped his discipline and musicianship, including service in the Army Band as both a saxophonist and percussionist.
As an instructor, Young has taught and mentored drumlines at schools across California, Maryland, and Utah. He has held various positions, from snare tech to caption head, and has worked with top programs. His expertise in drumline technique and leadership has helped shape countless young drummers along the way.
In addition to his musical career, Young is a Salt Lake County Sheriff Deputy and has dedicated years to serving his community. His combination of musical passion, military experience, and law enforcement dedication reflects a strong commitment to leadership and service.
Currently, Young is the Caption Head at Tooele High School, where he continues to inspire and train the next generation of percussionists.
